Eyelid surgery (or blepharoplasty) helps improve the appearance of the upper eyelids, lower eyelids and hollows beneath the eyes, whether caused by the natural aging process or genetics. Unlike eyelid surgery of the past that often yielded a surprised look due to over-sculpting, Mainline Facial Plastic Surgeon Dr. Jason Bloom strives for natural-looking results that make the eyes look rested, relaxed and rejuvenated.

Blepharoplasty can concentrate on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or both, depending on the patient’s concerns and needs. To improve a tired or sad appearance, upper blepharoplasty addresses excess skin and repositions fat to restore a more youthful, wide-eyed appearance. This procedure requires an incision in the crease of the eyelid, which is undetectable once healed.

Dr. Jason Bloom performs lower blepharoplasty to improve under-eye bags and bulges by tightening loose muscles, repositioning fat and removing excess skin. Depending on the approach Mainline Facial Plastic Surgeon Dr. Jason Bloom recommends, incisions may be placed just beneath the lower lashline or inside the lower eyelid, but neither incision placement leads to a visible scar. Keep in mind that comprehensive eye-area rejuvenation may require non-surgical procedures such as laser resurfacing and/or injectable fillers for optimal results.
