All about Radiesse

At Bloom Facial Plastic Surgery, we offer Radiesse, Radiesse (+), and Radiesse for the hands. This cosmetic injectable is a longer-lasting, semi-permanent filler that delivers instant results, as well as gradual volume improvement over time. Radiesse is formulated with microscopic calcium hydroxyapatite particles that stimulate the skin to produce more collagen, and is considered a tissue stimulator product because it has the ability to produce new collagen deep within the skin’s layers.

Radiesse is injected deeply into the skin to restore volume and provide lift rather than filling specific lines and creases. In addition to original Radiesse, we also offer Radiesse (+), which is formulated with lidocaine to minimize discomfort both during and after treatment. Radiesse is an ideal choice for patients who want to enhance the cheekbones, temples, jawline, and jowls, and can be used to correct deep nasolabial (nose to mouth) creases as well.

Advantages of Radiesse

  • Provides needed volume to the face and hands
  • Stimulates the production of natural collagen
  • Long-lasting skin improvement
  • Looks and feels very natural
  • Results can last up to two years

The long-lasting results of this semi-permanent filler help improve the bony or veiny appearance that often comes along with age by increasing the volume on the back of the hands as well as thickening the skin’s tissue. The skin-plumping effect is visible immediately, and because Radiesse stimulates the skin’s natural collagen production in the months following injection, results continue to improve over time and can last for a year or more.

Radiesse for the hands

Beyond the face, we also offer Radiesse for hand rejuvenation. Radiesse is an FDA-approved filler approved for use on the back of the hands.

Treatment details

Before your Radiesse treatment, we will cleanse and prep your skin. Once you’re ready, the injections will be administered. When the product is injected, it acts as a “scaffold” under the skin, and in addition, it stimulates collagen production. This two-fold effect produces a lifting effect and firmer, more youthful skin. Radiesse treatments typically take approximately 30 minutes, and you will be able to return to your regular activities the same day.

Side effects and results

The most common side effects from Radiesse are redness, bruising and/or swelling. Additionally, the treated area may take on an unbalanced, over-filled, or lumpy appearance. This is temporary and will improve as the product settles.

Results from Radiesse become visible at 1-2 weeks and can last for one year or longer.
